Background
Catherine started her teaching career at a tender age of 19 while taking up her bachelor’s degree in A.B. Mass Communications. After finishing her degree, she felt a strong calling for teaching, so she took education units and eventually acquired a professional license in Education with a major in Language and Literature. This has opened a venue for her to discover the importance of being a compassionate and effective educator, so she signed up for a Master’s degree program, major in English Language Education at the University of the Philippines, Diliman. She is currently working on her thesis about the Effects of Communicative Language Teaching Approach on the Language Proficiency of English as Foreign Language Learners.
Recognizing that learning is not limited to the four walls of the classroom, she has participated in a number of seminars about English teaching and learning in the Philippines and in Singapore, and about Business English in Germany. She strongly believes in recognizing and building the potentials of both English language learners and educators, so she has conducted seminars for English language faculty development. In addition, she wants to empower students in learning and appreciating English, so she has plans of conducting more seminars focused on language learners for them to optimize their language potentials in this globalized world.
Catherine has developed a website for English language learning, called "English Coffee": www.english-coffee.com.
